Petersberg Climate Dialogue X

The tenth Petersberg Climate Dialogue ended with a commitment to joint progress in climate protection. After negotiating the agreement and the rules in the foreground in previous years, the main focus was on implementation. The goal is that the international community will work together to improve climate protection in order to avert dangerous climate change. Representatives from 35 countries expressed the expectation that the international community will submit revised climate targets and long-term strategies to the United Nations by 2020.

In Berlin Germany and Chile hosted the tenth Petersberg Climate Dialogue as co-hosts on 13 and 14 May 2019. The international meeting was themed «Fulfilling the promise of Paris». Germany and Chile are close partners in international climate policy, especially with regard to the energy transition. The next world climate conference COP 25 will take place in Madrid, Spain.
