Aliano — historic museum ‘Carlo Levi’

The small museum of Aliano, located in via Cisterna, collects letters, documents and drawings relating to the internment to which the doctor, writer and painter Carlo Levi was sentenced by the fascist government between 1935 and 1936.

The original lithographies of Christ stopped at Eboli, donated by the writer himself, are particularly interesting.

The book, published in 1945, is about his experience in Aliano, where he lived in contact with the population, and testifies to the great poverty of the town.

In the museum, it is also possible to see numerous works by students of local art schools who have taken part in the ‘Estemporanea di Pittura’, organized every year.
